I MEETING WITH SCIENTISTS
"From the Institute towards research with Europe"
This activity is part of the projects: Educational Innovation and Curricular Development Project FIDICIENCIA granted by the Junta de Andalucía y Erasmus+("Discovering through Science"). The event was organized by IES Fidiana in collaboration with the officeEurope Direct Cordobaof theDeputationof our city.
One of the main challenges of science is scientific collaboration and teamwork, which is why we have invited theLope de Vega Academy, with whom we share an interest in promoting research in high school and with whom we have been collaborating for years. The event was attended by a total of 100 students from both centers.
IN PRESS !!!!
WHAT DO WE INTEND?
-
To bring Secondary and Baccalaureate students closer to the European Green Pact and to the lines of scientific research in Spain on sustainable agriculture, included in the European Union objective "Farm to fork".
-
Recognition of the best research carried out by the students of IES Fidiana during the 20-21 academic year within the framework of the Fidiciencia Educational Innovation Project.
The event began with the intervention ofDoña María Ángeles Domínguez, director of IES Fidiana, who told us about the benefBeginnings of research and its importance for today's society. He was introduced and guided byMrs. Elena León Rodríguez, coordinator of the Fidiciencia project and participant in the Erasmus+ Project.

We started the event with a presentation byMs. Mª Cruz Arcas. Professor of International Law at the University of Seville, Director of the Documentation Center of the University of Seville and President of the Andalusian Council of the European Movement. Who gave an interesting and clarifying talk "on line" about the EUROPEAN GREEN DACTputting in the minds of our young audience this new growth strategy for the EU, which aims to achieve theEurope's climate neutrality by 2050.
Next, we delve into the scientific world with the presentation entitled“THE FOOD OF THE FUTURE IS ALREADY HERE”. An overview of the current situation, global challenges and trends, and the immediate future of food, addressing scientific concepts of interest about carotenoids and their contribution to the production of healthy and sustainable food. For this we had the pleasure of having the presence ofDon Antonio Jesús Meléndez Martínez, Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology at the University of Seville, Member of the group "Color and Quality of Food" and Consultant for agri-food companies. Who presented the topic clearly to us and opened up a new horizon for research.
Later we were able to visit aexhibition with a representative sample of scientific posters on the interesting investigations carried out by secondary and high school studentswithin the framework of the Fidiciencia Educational Innovation Project during the 20-21 academic year. This year we continue working on this project but we expand our borders thanks to the Erasmus+ project "Discovering trough Science" in which we aim to hold an international scientific congress in collaboration with a French center and later with a center in Austria._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
We return to our appointment with science, this time with a paper titled“BIOTECHNOLOGY: ALLY AGAINST INTOLERANCES TO WHEAT”. Overview of intolerances related to wheat consumption, difficulties for people who are intolerant of wheat in the diet and the biotechnological approaches that are being developed at the IAS-CSIC Institute for Sustainable Agriculture to develop cereals suitable for consumption by intolerant people . On this occasion we have the honor of the presence ofDon Francisco Barro Losada. Research professor at the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture of the Higher Council for Scientific Research of Córdoba. Head of the research group "Plant Biotechnology".Who with his pleasant presentation and his interesting words expanded our knowledge about the benefits that biotechnology brings.
The professors of the IES Fidiana and the Lope de Vega AcademyWe are convinced that it is very important to introduce research into our classrooms to train the researchers of tomorrow, soWe have not wanted to miss the opportunity for our high school students to show their research projects. Thus, we brought a small representative sample of these projects and with their presentations we made known our way of bringing research closer to adolescents.
The students of the 2nd year of the Baccalaureate of Health Sciences of the IES Fidiana presented their research titled: ”DETERMINATION OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE ANTIBIOTIC AGAINST Echerichia coli DH5 alpha”.
Research students:
Belen Lopez Fernandez

ACT OF DELIVERY OF DIPLOMAS TO THE INVESTIGATIONS OF THE PROJECT WINNING FIDICIENCIA
We ended with this awards ceremony. We wanted to pay homage to our students' commitment to science and recognize their achievements, in addition to consolidating their scientific competence.
The Jury, taking into account the results of the evaluation carried out by expert advisors, has carried out the selection process of the works presented and has selected five outstanding investigations. The correct application of the scientific method, achievement of the proposed objective, design of the scientific poster, difficulty of the investigation, practical implication and usefulness of the investigation have been assessed.
